Kiss & Makeup Reviews La Clarée Moisturising Face Cream

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

laclaree_moist_face_creamIt’s been a while since any new moisturisers have turned my head, but I recently discovered a good one that’s now going head-to-head with my trusty pot of Origins’ A Perfect World in the bathroom cabinet. I hadn’t heard of La Clarée until recently, but this organic skincare range from France is a top quality range of products to nourish the skin while limiting impact on the environment (all bottles are recycled, recyclable and non-polluting; the paper used in its boxes all bear the eco label). But what about the products themselves?

What they say about it
Made with olive leaf extract, this moisturising facial cream is full of antioxidant ingredients which moisturise the skin and protect against free radicals and other external stresses, promoting smoothness, suppleness and radiance.

What I thought about it
This is an ultra light moisturising cream, which sinks into the skin almost as soon as it makes contact. This makes it ideal for busy people who barely have time to slap on a bit of cream after showering, giving you that essential moisture boost when you most need it. Once absorbed, the cream appears to ‘dry’ very quickly, leaving no greasy residue, but making the skin feel quenched. The smell is delicious: I don’t think I’ve used an olive-based cream before so was expecting something a bit more like Bertoli! In fact, it’s a very fresh, daisy-like scent.

Anything else?
Having used this now for a few days, my skin feels subtle, slightly firmer and healthy. I’d recommend this to all skin types but it may be particularly suitable for oilier skins, due to its lightness. The list of what’s not in this cream is impressive: as well as omitting the usual parabens, there’s no sillicone, phenoxyethanol or synthetic fragrance. I’ve tried some pretty poor ‘natrual’ moisturisers with far more ingredients than this cream has, so it’s a great choice if you’re looking for your next eco-friendly face cream.

Mádara

Mint Shower Soap
Price: £8.50
Stockist: www.freetoexplorebeauty.co.uk

This is a great shower gel with a powerful yet pleasant scent of mint so this is a great product to use in the morning to wake you up and invigorate your mind and body. This is another product that is SLS free so it won’t foam as much as you would expect but that doesn’t mean that it won’t cleanse and tone your skin because it does so beautifully. My skin felt clean, smelt wonderful and was soft to the touch. It looked pretty healthy too!

Lavera Mint Oil Control Range - Value for money

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

lavera-logoWe all know how important it is to treat and protect our skin to maintain its youth and radiance. Having used many different skincare products over the years as a beauty therapist, my search continues for THE product that really does live up to expectation.

My ideal product would be one that doesn’t cost the earth and didn’t harm the earth either, contained high quality natural ingredients, but also made a real difference to my skin. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered the Lavera product range. My skin had been a bit temperamental lately with annoying breakouts around my chin and jaw line which no amount of cleansing and cover sticks could clear or disguise.

About a month ago I was recommended the Lavera Mint Oil Control range which I started using as part of my daily beauty regime. The Mint Cleansing Gel which I used morning and night had a lovely minty fresh smell and a tingly sensatiolavera-oi-cleansing-geln, not an uncomfortable one, just really refreshing and awakening, this being a bonus first thing in the morning. The gel was easy to use, applied to damp skin to form a gentle lather, after massaging all over the face using circular motions, it rinsed off effortlessly with tepid water. Following this, I used the Lavera Mint Toner to remove any residue and prepare my skin for moisturiser, vital in protecting the skin and to replace lost moisture.

After only a week of use, I could visibly notice a difference in both the appearance and texture of my skin. I would certainly recommend this range to anyone suffering with problematic oily and combination skin, especially younger skin. I am now looking forward to trying further products within the Lavera range now that my problem has been resolved.

With an extensive variety of affordable products to suit all skin types and simple yet beautiful smelling body products, my favourite being the Lavera Vanilla & Coconut Eau De Toilette and Moisturising Body Lotion, I’m glad I discovered the Lavera range.
